OHIM is the European Union agency responsible for registering trade marks and designs that are valid in all 27 countries of the EU. This year's World Intellectual Property Day on 26 April will have as its theme "Innovation - Linking the World". The aims of the annual celebration of IP organised on the date on which the Convention establishing WIPO came into force is to: Raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life. Increase understanding of how protecting IP rights helps promote creativity and innovation. Celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe. Encourage respect for the IP rights of others.
